College reallocates office space and resources

Mount Holyoke staff have been planning major changes and relocations within the next year, in hopes of sparking new collaborations and more lively academic interactions. The proposed plans would incorporate relocations of the three centers on campus (the Weisman Center for Leaderships, the Center for the Environment and the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives), the migration of the anthropology and sociology department onto campus and possible restructuring of LITS that better utilizes the Five College network.

Senior Art Projects

This Friday, dozens of seniors will present a year’s worth of hard work at the annual Senior Symposium. This year the art and art history departments have a diverse and interesting line up, with six projects that explore art based on personal identity, and historical memory to revising ideas of Renaissance artists.

Ahyoung An fuses anger, music and social commentary in senior recital

This Thursday night, Ahyoung An ’09 will premiere “Confessions of Angry Korean American Woman” to the Mount Holyoke community and anyone else willing to lend an open ear and eye to her story. The performance combines music, words and video that serve as a reaction to her experience at Mount Holyoke as a person of color.

What can a woman do: An interview with textile curator Lynne Zacek Bassett ’83

The Mount Holyoke Art Museum opened its latest exhibit titled, “What Can a Woman Do? Women, Work and Wardrobe 1865-1940″ last week. The exhibit explores the shifts in representations of women and their wardrobe in America during the pivotal years between the Civil War and World War II.

Sway: An innovative student production

Mount Holyoke often takes pride in being a place of endless possibilities and a harbor for new and creative work. The collaborative effort seen in Project Theater’s latest production, Sway, is an excellent demonstration of such opportunity.

Local campaign party held for Ralph Nader

Mount Holyoke and Frances Perkins alum Jessica Levy, who has a long history of being involved in labor law, recently hosted a campaign meeting for Ralph Nader at her home in South Hadley.
