ACE awards the college to support tenured faculty

On Sept. 10, the American Council on Education (ACE) announced that Mount Holyoke College was one of six colleges to receive the 2009 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Faculty Career Flexibility.

The award recognizes baccalaureate colleges for their accomplishments in advocating and administering groundbreaking policies and practices that support career flexibility for tenured and tenure-track faculty.

Senior Ball tradition turns 68 years old

It’s 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 in the year 1940 and you’re dressed in an elegant, floor length evening gown. The air is full of excitement as you wait in line to enter Chapin Hall with your escort, who is very handsome in his black tux. The music of Johnny Newton’s Orchestra drifts through the door as the receiving line moves closer and closer to the entrance.
