Dear Editor:

The Phoebe Prince case shows the tragedy that can result when a school district and parents are uneducated about the implications of cyberbullying. It is not merely bullying but terrorizing to a point that makes the victim feel helpless. Cyberbullying is nothing new which makes this case even more tragic. The solutions are available if parents and schools want to become involved. The warning flags go up months before a victim becomes suicidal and it simply needs for someone to recognize them. Phoebe’s death could have been prevented so the school and the parents do not get a pass on this. The court system is not going to make this problem go away so it is the responsibility of the community to make it right.
