Current students and alums speak about the “decision” to remove Colored One Cards

“I think this is absolutely ridiculous. How can a few students who decide to take less or more classes and lose step with their own class determine the fate of the rest of campus? I find this deeply disturbing because the administration was so discrete and covert with this action. The administration at Mount Holyoke, that I once loved for its transparency and credence to student opinion, has changed dramatically and is only a shadow of its former self. This is sad to see.”

“I’m sorry. I thought we were Mount Holyoke. Not Smith. Boring.”

“So it might be silly of me to create this group, but I really feel that our class colors sets us apart from other schools and is a tradition I really enjoy. I am frustrated that the administration did not consult us before making this decision. I think if enough people register their complaints they might reconsider. It’s worth a shot! Be sure to e-mail the people on the info page! Don’t just accept this!”

“What the heck is going on at Mount Holyoke? No hot breakfast? No distinguishing One Cards? This is not the school I graduated from.”

– Natalie Cheng Alum ’07

“I’m kind of confused about how they plan to implement this. Are they going to make everyone get a new one card? Are you all going to have to pay for these new blue cards? Or is it just everyone coming in Fall 2010 or later is going to have a blue card?”
