Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers’ Music Video Featuring The UMass Marching Band

A locally grown band, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, or SK6ERS has fans have dubbed them, have 4 albums to their name, 1,000 live concerts  under their belt (they hit this mark on April 6, 2010) and a music video with over 225,000 views.  Not too shabby.  Three of  the four band members met while at UMass – Amherst and formed the group in 2003.  Fittingly, the UMass Marching Band is featured in their newest video, “Shady Esperanto and the Young Hearts“. This low production, yet tantalizing video brings Ok Go’s  “This Too Shall Pass” to mind, both videos feature college marching bands, yet “Shady Esperanto and the Young Hearts” is more  “party celebration” than “death march”, which is comparative to the slow and  lethargic beat and sound of “This Too Shall Pass”.

Energetic, and upbeat it is hard not to find yourself humming  along –and bouncing up and down with the band members– to this great tune.  I especially love the coordinated dance moves of the marching band members… watch out Dancing with the Stars, Dancing with the Marching Bands is going to be the next big thing! Who is Kate Gosselin? We want the tuba players!
