5 Best Summer Driving Tunes

With summer right around the bend, it is this time of year that I start to crave driving — windows down, summer sun in your face, sunglasses on, music turned up loud– nothing is better (or more eco-friendly). Here are 5 timeless– ok, maybe more boy band 90′s pop than timeless– songs that are a must for your summer driving play list. Ready? Its time to hit the road…don’t forget the GPS!

5. “Juliet”- LMNT

There is nothing like screaming your lungs out to this tune.  I bet Shakespeare,Ye Olde’ Song Lyricists, had no idea that his plays would become pop gold — Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” comes to mind– when he was ferociously cranking out play after play.

4. “Make it Mine” -Jason Mraz

Watch your speed while Jason seduces your ear drums, listening to this pulsating beat you have no choice but to go 90 mph.

3.”Love Today” – Mika

Mika, played widely in  clubs across Europe, knows how to produce an upbeat track. Try to imitate his falsetto, I dare you. It won’t be pretty, but no one will hear you.

2.”Dancing in the Moonlight” -Toploader

This version is a remake of the track  King Harvest released  in 1973. The Toploader version, first introduced to me by the film “A Walk to Remember” is extremely fun to  sing along to. For country driving this is a must.

1.” Don’t Stop Believing”- Journey

Classic. Name one person who does not know the words to this song. At the height of this 4 minutes and 1o seconds, passengers will be screaming, playing the air guitar, bouncing up and down in their seat. Seat belts. Will. Be. Off.

Thank you Journey, for providing such a well rounded car jam.

Some songs that did not make the list, but should be on your playlist ( what is a 5 song playlist  anyway?)

“Animal”- Neon Trees

“Hey Soul Sister” – Train

“See you Again”- Miley Cyrus

“Chelsea” – The Summer Set
