On April 14th, an earthquake of 7.1 magnitude hit the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province in northwest China. According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, 1,144 people have been confirmed dead and thousands more are injured or still buried in the rubble.Two Mount Holyoke students, Suolang Dongcuo ’13 and Wen Xiao ’13 are running an initiative to gather donations from the campus community as part of a relief effort for the victims of the quake. All donations would be sent to One Earth Designs, a US based non-profit organization, working with local relief workers at Yushu.
