Despite the rigorous academics associated with science, many scientists fall subject to the same weakness: they can’t write. Science magazine explores the importance of reading, writing and debate in an article published this week. The importance of requiring science majors to take humanities courses shows that any discipline can benefit from complimentary courses in other fields of study. Science is only going to maintain its importance in society if the knowledge gained by hard-working researchers can be transmitted, particularly through the written word, to the general public.
