Hoops for Haiti

A member of the faculty-staff team goes up for the jumpshot during the Hoops for Haiti basketball game. The faculty led by one point going into halftime, but the student basektball players pulled ahead in the second half and came away with the victory.

On Tuesday night, March 2nd, the Kendall gymnasium was full of good-spirited fun with Hoops for Haiti, a faculty-staff vs. student basketball game. The event lasted from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. and resulted with a 61-55 student victory. It was a great event to be at, with lots of students as well as families of the faculty and staff who came to support and cheer on the teams. A cappella groups provided some additional entertainment, with the M&C’s and the Diversions each performing at half time.

Tricia Chase ’12 gets the shot off while her teammates and the faculty look on. The event was a fundraiser for Haiti, organized by C.A.U.S.E.

Both teams seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves, laughing with each other, interacting with the crowd and putting some points on the board. All in all the night was a great success, raising over $400. These proceeds will be donated to the organization Partners in Health, which is working to help earthquake victims in Haiti.
