Musical Spotlight: Diane Birch

My ears were first introduced to the tune of Diane Birch as an opening act for Nick Jonas and the Administration (no judgments till you have actually heard their music please).  While I will admit that initially I was turned off when she introduced the name of her debut album “Bible Belt”, imagining church hymns and Sunday school songs, when she began her set she belted out  bluesy, rock, folk and pop qualities, quickly relinquishing my  fears.

Birch is memorable. She isn’t your everyday pop starlet, auto tuning their voice in order to pump out records and acquire fame, I would even venture to say that her live performances are better than her actual record. She also doesn’t go for high production, over the top music videos, her videos are unique and they give fans a taste of her  personality. I have a feeling we will be seeing Birch more and more in the future; she just finished two concerts at SXSW and was recently on the Ellen Show.

I knew that Diane and I would have a long lasting friendship (through my itunes that is) when I came across her “behind the scenes” version of her new music video” Valentino”.  Check out both versions of the videos below.

Behind the Scenes (it is worth watching!)
