If you find yourself constantly viewing the latest satire and parody shows, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report on Hulu, you may need to book mark new websites. Viacom, the media conglomerate that owns Comedy Central, and MTV along with other cable stations, announced beginning at midnight March 9, that these shows will no longer be hosted by Hulu, a free online video service, due to the inability to “secure the rights to extend these shows for a much longer period of time”. In laymen terms- money.
First the decline of print journalism, now no more Daily Show and Colbert Report on Hulu? What is next, the apocalypse?
Have no fear! These shows are not disappearing from the internet altogether; both shows will have streaming video on their respectable websites, TheDailyShow.com and ColbertNation.com. The link to their websites will also be accessible through Hulu.
