It’s March Madness time! The NCAA Division I basketball tournament is a highly anticipated annual event. There’s even a kind of “science” to predicting which teams will advance to the next rounds. It’s called “bracketology.” Seeds for the men’s tournament were released Sunday. This year Kansas garnered the overall #1 seed, while Kentucky, Duke and Syracuse are all tops in their respective regions. Lots of people will be filling out brackets over the next couple of days. Last year President Obama filled out his bracket, and even though he has a packed agenda right now we can probably expect him to be predicting the champs again this year. The women’s rankings will be announced today.
Meanwhile, two local teams, one in the men’s and one in the women’s, will be making appearances in the NCAA Division III Final Four. Williams College men (overall record 29-1) will take on Guilford in a semifinal match this Friday in Salem, VA. On the women’s side, Amherst College (31-0) puts its perfect record on the line when it meets up with Washington University-St. Louis on Friday in Bloomington, Ill.
